This Memorial Day Weekend was extra special, not just because it was my first three-day weekend with the startup, but because it was my wife-elect’s birthday! Her adventure of choice: The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA.
After surprising her with birthday cake, treats, and a present, we were on our way to explore marine life. It was a gorgeous sunny day in Los Angeles with clear skies and (for once) barely any traffic. To our delight, we were at the harbor within an hour!
We also decided to take the Nikon DSLR I gave her for Christmas last year, and we couldn’t be any happier with the results! It allowed us to take some incredible shots! But it also taught us just how difficult it is to be an animal photographer: very.
By the end of the day we were exhausted, but beyond thankful for the opportunity to sea so many amazing creatures up close. We even got to pet a stingray! Yeah, pet. If you are ever in town, we highly recommend the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Tell me, have you ever been to an aquarium? What is your favorite sea creature and why? Would you like to pet a fish, or do you prefer to observe from behind a glass?

I find seahorses fascinating, and I am fine with just viewing through glass! Beautiful pics!

Thanks so much! π I’m sorry to hear that, then again, it’s just another reason to visit Los Angeles! π Where are you based, Steve?

P.S. the startup link isnβt working for me. It keeps saying unsupported URL. What is your startup about?

Oh no! I’m not sure what’s going on. π I work at a tech startup! Thank you for asking! Below is the link to the missing post. To what do you dedicate your time? π https://caffeinatedinlosangeles.com/2019/04/30/reasons-for-joining-a-startup/

That sounds like a great day. Out here in Oregon we have a large aquarium in Newport. It’s one of our coastal towns. They are fun, they are exhausting but if you’re lucky to enjoy a summer day on our coast it can be a lot of fun.
Good stuff here. Happy I found your site.

Great photos and descriptions! I have visited two aquariums nearby: Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio and Newport Aquarium in Newport, Kentucky (across the Ohio River from Cincinnati). I found the sharks at Newport and the manatees at Columbus to be fascinating. Since I have fished back in Montana, I have touched a few fish.
