We’re Back!

We’re Back!

Dear Caffeinated Nation,

It’s been a while! So much has happened since we last spoke. For starters, it’s Autumn. The leaves have turned orange, the weather has encouraged us to dive into our closets for those warm sweaters, and if you’re anything like us, you are over the moon because it’s holiday season! But before we get in the holiday spirit, we have so much to share about the best summer thus far. Things to look forward to in the next few weeks:

The Wedding: We finally got our wedding pictures and we could not be more happy! We are thrilled to re-live our happiest day yet through the most stunning photographs and video we could have hoped for — and we cannot wait to share (and print) them!

The Honeymoon: In what seemed like the blink of an eye, we went to and came back from Hawaii. Our trip to Maui was everything we had hoped for and more. In fact, if I close my eyes and focus, I can still hear the waves from our condo’s balcony.

Married Life: Finally, we can truly share life as a married couple! Much like our engaged life, it consists of adventures in Los Angeles. Among other things, you can expect museums, restaurants, and of course:

Coffee: Lots of coffee. For instance, I’m having some at this very moment as I type. How else are we going to keep this blog caffeinated? Cheers!

It is our hope that by sharing these stories we can spread some positivity, inspire you to explore the world (starting perhaps with your own neighborhood as we are doing with LA), and of course, share a cup of coffee.

Truly yours,

The Ramdolfis

Be Right Back

Be Right Back

Please pardon our absence — we thought it prudent to disconnect from the internet during our honeymoon. We promise we’ll be right back to answer all your comments, emails, and share our adventures! In the meantime, please enjoy this picture of our most adorable family member, Bagheera, caught indulging in some sweets.

Las Vegas | Does Not Stay In Vegas

Las Vegas | Does Not Stay In Vegas

And I would not have it any other way. I absolutely wish to remember every bit of the legendary weekend that was my best man’s bachelor party. Fortunately, with age has come the wisdom to make better decisions, the very same that kept us from experiencing any memory loss. Instead, we shall remember his last outing as a bachelor as a reunion of gentlemen, a classy affair, an elegant soiree. Then again, what kind of friend would I be if I did not share at least one piece of undignified evidence — don’t worry, I ran it by him. Enjoy!

The best man’s bachelor party in Las Vegas was by all means the perfect way to wrap up the best summer thus far. Please refer to exhibits A, B, C, D, E, and F for further evidence and exhibits G and H for coffee stops. For the bachelor party that the same best man organized for me in Los Angeles, please refer to exhibits A, B, C, D, and E.

Tell me, where would you want to go to bid your single days goodbye? What would you want to do? Who would you want to go with?

Las Vegas | New York

Las Vegas | New York

While in Las Vegas for the best man’s bachelor party, we frequented the New York-New York hotel and casino a few times — mainly because it was next to our own hotel, the MGM. Perusing the aisles of a hotel made to look like the city I once called home felt, nostalgic.

While anyone without an inclination to suspending their disbelief would recognize the American colonial architecture as nothing more than a facade, I simply could not help myself but to achieve a close aesthetic distance. I was instantly transported to the streets of another life.

I smiled at the exposed brick, the fire escape ladders, and the multitude of apartments above restaurants that extend their outdoor seating into the crowded sidewalks. It was nice to be back for an instant. Except that I wasn’t, of course, for there is only one New York — only one living, breathing, conniving, New York. Even then, the similarities were remarkable, so I took some pictures to compare them to those from my time back east.

Tell me, what do you think? Do you see the similarities? Have you ever been to either of these places?

Las Vegas | Eataly Coffee

Las Vegas | Eataly Coffee

An underground trip, a journey across the desert, the arrival in Las Vegas, a series of competitive events, a night of golf, a lazy river, some familiar coffee, and a night out that turned into morning, coffee. Strong, black, coffee.

Fortunately for me, Las Vegas has plenty of amazing cafes and restaurants including a personal favorite of mine, Eataly. Back in New York, I used to go to the Eataly by One World Trade Center at least once a month — for good reason too! The Italian food restaurant-bazaar hybrid (previously associated with Mario Batali) offers an incredible repertoire of delicious choices, including of course, coffee. Side note: Eataly also makes a fantastic (though somewhat overpriced) fruit tart — I surprised wife with one upon returning to Los Angeles.

Review: Just like the rest of Eataly, its cafe has an elegant yet welcoming factor that commands respect. At Eataly you will find Lavazza coffee, an Italian type coffee that has been quickly expanding across the U.S. in the last few years. Lavazza offers a decent cup of full-bodied aromatic coffee. Bitter yet flavorful, Lavazza was a great way to start the morning.

At $3.90 a large cup, it is still evident that you are paying the Las Vegas strip location premium — that, or they modeled their pricing after Italy. Price aside, this cup is good. It is delightful, but just short of memorable. Would I buy it again? I already have. The Ramdolfi Score: 5.9/10.

Las Vegas | The Night Out

Las Vegas | The Night Out

An underground trip, a journey across the desert, the arrival in Las Vegas, a series of competitive events, a night of golf, a lazy river, and some familiar coffee later, it was time to go out. This, would be the classic bachelor party night. Our venue of choice? The Marquee.

If you attended a U.S. university with Greek life and “thirsty Thursdays,” then chances are that you are familiar with the scene. Men wearing button-downs that they would otherwise normally not wear, women wearing formfitting outfits that beckon pneumonia on any given night, and an overflow of overpriced beverages, including water — specially water. Add a secret ingredient, and it’s a recipe for legendary night. That ingredient of course, is friends.

In just about any other context, it would be an undesirable situation. A hot room filled with sweaty people, with barely any space to navigate your way through the masses, music so loud that you know you won’t be able to hear well upon leaving, and did I mention overpriced water? It’s worth mentioning again, the price of water at a club is criminal. So why then was this such a fun night? The same reason why a house party is fun, friends — and these were not just any friends. I cannot emphasize enough the quality and caliber of people that I was privileged to celebrate with during this weekend.

After a long, and I mean long, night of jubilant raging, we were depleted. More importantly, we were famished. How then, did we replenish our reservoir? With Italy’s greatest culinary gift to the world, pizza. To our delight, we found a (somewhat) hidden New York-style pizzeria just a floor below. Unfortunately, there was a long line, the length of which was only rivaled by our need for sustenance.

One eternity later, entered ‘za. Do you see that white slice on the top left section? That’s my slice. The same slice that would go on to keep me up at night at the disheartening thought of knowing that an additional slice would be unattainable in Los Angeles. It was an incredible slice — the likes of which I have only found in New York.

This night was indeed, legendary. It would go on to be the last hurrah with the best man, as a bachelor. In just days he would join me in the married men club. Married men society? Either way, it was an honor raging and munching with you, brother.
